The Greek Competition Commission (GCC) issued a decision regarding the late notification of a merger that led to a change in control over the company 'SYNERGIES SUPERMARKETS S.A.' The control shifted from 'GREEK MARKET S.A.' to 'ANEDIK KRETIKOS S.A.'
According to Greek competition law, mergers must be notified to the GCC within thirty days of the agreement that secures control. In this case, the acquisition of exclusive control by 'ANEDIK KRETIKOS' over 'SYNERGIES SUPERMARKETS' was not timely notified, exceeding the deadline by thirty-three days.
The GCC's decision found that the merger notification was late, violating the provisions of Greek competition law. As a result, a fine of €30,000 was imposed on 'ANEDIK KRETIKOS' for the breach, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
