The Latvian Competition Authority (KP) is organizing the annual Competition Law Week from November 2 to 6, 2026. This event will highlight important competition policy and legal issues in Latvia.

This year, the week will feature a presentation of the OECD's evaluation of Latvia's competition policy, discussions on the future of competition oversight, food price formation, and competition in retail.

The week will kick off on November 2 with an opening event where KP Chair Ieva Šmite will share the authority's performance metrics for the year and plans for the next year. A central event will be the presentation of the OECD evaluation of Latvia's competition policy, discussing the current system and future development opportunities.

On November 4, a session titled “Food Prices in Latvia: Where Do Their Causes Lie?” will focus on factors influencing food price formation and the competitive situation in Latvia's retail market. KP council member Inese Druviete will present updates on retail issues, followed by a panel discussion with economists analyzing the factors affecting food prices.

On November 5, the KP will host its 11th Lawyers Forum, gathering competition law professionals to discuss current legal application issues and trends. Topics will include merger control, competition neutrality, public involvement in commercial activities, and resale price setting.

The aim of Competition Law Week is to enhance public understanding of fair competition, promote professional discussions on the development of competition policy and law, and strengthen dialogue between the competition authority, businesses, industry experts, and other stakeholders.
