The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has granted interim authorisation to AusPayNet, allowing it to maintain its certification provisions while seeking reauthorisation.

On April 15, 2025, Australian Payments Network Limited (AusPayNet) submitted a request to revoke its existing authorisation AA1000495-1 and replace it with a new one. This authorisation pertains to the certification, suspension, and termination provisions outlined in the Issuers and Acquirers Community (IAC) Regulations and Code Set, which have been in effect in various forms since 2000.

The need for reauthorisation arises as the current authorisation is set to expire on August 1, 2025. AusPayNet aims to ensure continuity in its operations and compliance with the IAC Regulations and Code Set.

On July 17, 2025, the ACCC granted interim authorisation, allowing AusPayNet to continue implementing the previously authorised certification, suspension, and termination provisions while the ACCC reviews the substantive application for reauthorisation. This decision ensures that AusPayNet can operate without interruption during the assessment period.

Further details regarding the ACCC's decision can be found on the ACCC's public register, specifically related to Australian Payments Network Limited.
