The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has approved a 52% increase in transmission tariffs for natural gas by Gasunie Transport Services B.V. (GTS) for 2025, following a decrease in 2024.

The ACM has approved a significant increase in transmission tariffs for natural gas by GTS for 2025, with households expected to pay around 10 euros more per year. This increase is attributed to various factors, including a ruling allowing GTS to earn more in revenues, higher interest rates affecting the cost of capital, and reduced natural gas consumption leading to lower capacity sales. In 2024, tariffs had decreased by 20% due to the return of excess revenues to the market, primarily from increased natural gas imports in 2022. GTS uses different tariffs for various users, such as storage facilities and LNG points, crucial for supply security.
