The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) held an event on February 20, 2026, to announce the winners of its AI contest titled 'We Are the Future AI,' aimed at elementary school students. The contest, launched in May 2025, received numerous valuable submissions across three categories: presentations, short videos, and posters.

The initiative encouraged children in grades 5-8 to express their opinions and ideas about the future of artificial intelligence, aiming to empower them as active participants in discussions surrounding AI education, development, and regulation.

During the event, GVH's communication director, Bálint Horváth, emphasized the societal need for collective thinking about digital issues, particularly among children who have many questions about AI. He noted that AI fundamentally changes the daily lives of younger generations, making it essential for them to engage as informed stakeholders in digital transformations.

A survey by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) revealed that 97.8% of Hungarian children aged 13-16 have heard of AI, with 76.5% having used AI-based programs at least once, indicating a rapid spread of generative AI technologies among teenagers.

The winners of the contest were announced in various categories, with teams from different schools recognized for their outstanding work. The event concluded with congratulations to all participants and a special acknowledgment of the awarded projects.
