The Polish competition authority has reiterated the importance of consumer rights in the gastronomy sector, particularly regarding the accuracy of service and pricing information.

Consumers are entitled to clear and truthful information about the services they order, and any discrepancies allow for complaints. This includes transparency about additional charges for services or takeout packaging, which must be communicated clearly before an order is placed.

In the first half of this year, the Trade Inspection conducted checks in 317 gastronomy establishments across Poland, revealing that 80% of them had irregularities. The most common issue, found in 60% of cases, was the lack of information regarding the quantity of dishes or drinks, or the absence of a price list altogether. These inspections are ongoing and regular.
