The Austrian competition authority has announced the upcoming Kartellrecht Moot Court (KRMC) for 2025, which will see participation from ten university teams across Austria. This year marks the 11th edition of the competition, highlighting significant interest and engagement from academic institutions.
A notable change for this year's event is the anonymization of the teams, aimed at preventing any deductions about their respective faculties. This initiative is designed to provide a fair and objective assessment of the teams' performances.
Each team will receive support from prestigious law firms, including Schima Mayer Starlinger, EY Law, Cerha Hempel, Taylor Wessing, Schönherr, Wolf Theiss, Haslinger Nagele, Burgstaller & Partner, Binder Grösswang, and Reidlinger Schatzmann Jergitsch.
The jury for the 2025 Moot Court will be chaired by Mag. Sonja Köller-Thier, President of the Vienna Higher Regional Court, alongside other esteemed members such as Mag. Heinz-Ludwig Majer, Ass.-Prof. Dr. Lena Hornkohl, Dr. Heinrich Kühnert, and Mag. Corinna Potocnik-Manzouri.
The opening ceremony will be led by Dr. Natalie Harsdorf, General Director of the Federal Competition Authority, who will also present certificates to the participating teams, alongside keynote speaker Dr. Christian Filzwieser.
The oral proceedings are scheduled for May 16, 2025, at the Festsaal in Radetzkystraße 2. Detailed procedural rules and the event timeline are available in the Rules of Procedure.
Students have until March 7, 2025, to submit questions regarding the case, which will be answered by the organizers and published by March 14, 2025. ELSA Austria, DORDA, and the BWB wish all participants the best of luck.
