ACM Reveals Tariff Proposals for 2025 by Dutch System Operators

04.10.2024 | Dutch competition authority

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has disclosed the tariff proposals of distribution system operators and TenneT for 2025, anticipating an 11% increase in transport tariffs for households and businesses.

The ACM has made public the tariff proposals of distribution system operators (DSO) and TenneT, the Dutch transmission system operator, for 2025. These costs are to be collectively borne by all grid users through transport tariffs.

ACM had earlier indicated a projected 11% rise in transport tariffs for households and businesses in 2025. The tariff adjustments will vary based on consumer type and system operator, with an average household expecting a yearly increase of around 60 euros (including VAT).

The tariff increments are attributed to necessary investments by system operators in grid upgrades and expansions to accommodate the shift from fossil fuels to sustainably generated electricity, aligning with climate objectives. TenneT is also investing significantly in the offshore grid construction.
