The New Zealand Commerce Commission has published a Statement of Unresolved Issues concerning Rafting JV Co's application to acquire the rafting and sledging assets of Rotorua Rafting, Kaitiaki Adventures, and Kaituna Cascades.

This statement outlines the Commission's initial concerns about potential competition issues arising from the proposed acquisition. It is important to note that this statement does not represent a final decision, nor does it indicate whether the Commission will ultimately approve or deny the merger.

The Commission is actively seeking feedback from the involved parties, including Rotorua Rafting, Kaitiaki Adventures, and Kaituna Cascades, as well as any other interested stakeholders. Submissions regarding the issues raised in the Statement of Unresolved Issues are encouraged.

Interested parties can submit their feedback via email, with a deadline set for close of business on May 14, 2026. Additionally, cross-submissions will be accepted until May 25, 2026.

The Commission aims to reach a decision on the merger application by June 18, 2026, although this timeline may be extended if necessary to ensure a thorough assessment of the potential impact on competition in the market.
