The French competition authority, Autorité de la concurrence, has announced the unconditional clearance of two major transactions in the agricultural sector. The first transaction involves the creation of a joint venture between Belgian company Greenyard and French cooperative Eureden, aimed at combining their activities in the production and marketing of frozen vegetables and ready meals.

This joint venture was notified to the authority on December 9, 2025, following a referral from the European Commission. The authority assessed the potential impact on competition, particularly in the markets for fresh and frozen vegetables, and found that the joint venture would not significantly alter the competitive landscape in Brittany.

The second transaction involves the merger of Terres du Sud and Vivadour agricultural cooperatives, notified on December 16, 2025. The authority examined the implications of this merger on various markets, ensuring that farmers in the region would still have sufficient alternatives for their agricultural needs.

In both cases, the authority concluded that there were no risks of harm to competition, allowing the transactions to proceed unconditionally. This decision reflects the authority's pragmatic approach to merger assessments, particularly in the agricultural sector, where it aims to support value creation while protecting consumer interests.
