The German competition authority has issued an important notice regarding the electronic registration of mergers. This change is a result of a legislative amendment under the Bureaucracy Reduction Act from the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

As per the new regulations, the option for electronic registration under § 39 Abs. 1 Satz 2 Nr. 1 GWB via the email address fusionskontrolle@bundeskartellamt.bund.de has been removed. Consequently, formal registration under § 39 Abs. 1 Satz 1 GWB is currently not possible through this email.

The authority believes that this is only a temporary suspension of the electronic registration option. They will provide updates once the email address is operational again for merger notifications.
