A two-day study visit by representatives from Montenegro's Competition Protection Agency has concluded, focusing on the operational practices of Lithuania's Competition Council. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation between the two institutions, particularly as Montenegro seeks European Union membership.
Irma Urmonaitė, Deputy Chairwoman of the Competition Council, welcomed the Montenegrin delegation, expressing hope that Lithuania's extensive experience in competition law would aid Montenegro in improving its internal processes. She emphasized the importance of effective competition for consumer benefits and operational efficiency.
During the visit, the Competition Council shared insights on strategic objectives, key achievements, and the significance of international cooperation. The discussions included practical examples from merger control, investigations of prohibited agreements, and state aid, providing a comprehensive overview of the challenges and solutions in competition law enforcement.
The study visit was organized at the request of the Polish Office for Economic Policy and Regional Development, as part of an EU-funded initiative aimed at strengthening institutional capacities in competition and innovation law.
