The Hellenic Competition Commission will review the acquisition of exclusive control over MIG by Piraeus Bank to determine compliance with competition laws.

The Hellenic Competition Commission will convene on July 17, 2024, to examine the acquisition of exclusive control of 'MIG ANONYMI ETAIRIA SYMMETOCHON' by 'TRAPEZA PEIRAIOS AE' in light of relevant competition laws.

The proposal suggests finding the late notification and premature implementation of the acquisition in violation of specific articles of Greek competition law. Additionally, a fine is recommended to be imposed on Piraeus Bank for non-compliance.

It is noted that the proposal is not binding, and the Hellenic Competition Commission will make a decision after considering evidence, the views of Piraeus Bank, and any third-party opinions.
