The French competition authority, Autorité de la concurrence, has announced the unconditional clearance of two significant transactions in the agricultural sector. The first transaction involves the establishment of a joint venture between the Belgian company Greenyard and the French cooperative group Eureden, aimed at combining their activities in the production and marketing of frozen vegetables and ready meals.

This joint venture will operate two production sites in Brittany and will produce products under various labels, including D’Aucy and Paysan Breton. The Autorité assessed the potential impact on competition in the relevant markets and found that the joint venture's market position would not significantly alter competition dynamics, ensuring farmers have sufficient alternatives.

The second transaction is the merger of the Terres du Sud and Vivadour agricultural cooperatives, which will create France's 20th largest agricultural cooperative. The Autorité examined the merger's effects on various markets and confirmed that it would not harm competition, allowing farmers in the region to maintain access to multiple suppliers.

Both decisions reflect the Autorité's commitment to a pragmatic approach in merger assessments, particularly in the agricultural sector, where it aims to support value creation while protecting consumer interests.
