Competition Council approves Nykredit's commitments to increase competition in the mortgage loan market by allowing more flexibility for financial institutions to collaborate with other providers besides Totalkredit.

The Competition Council has accepted commitments from Nykredit to address concerns regarding the terms of the Totalkredit collaboration, allowing more competition in the market. This move enables financial institutions to work with other mortgage providers alongside Totalkredit.

The commitments ensure that institutions in the Totalkredit collaboration can switch mortgage providers without losing commissions on already mediated Totalkredit loans, even in cases of acquisition. They also allow for agreements on joint priority loans with Nykredit's competitors without affecting their relationship with Nykredit.

Nykredit's commitments enhance competitors' opportunities to compete for delivering mortgage loans to private customers by enabling parallel distribution, where institutions can mediate loans from multiple providers simultaneously. However, they still cannot engage in parallel distribution with Nykredit's current competitors.

The agreement includes a revision clause allowing the Competition and Consumer Authority to reassess the commitments after five years based on a renewed competitive evaluation. The authority will continue to monitor the market closely to ensure fair competition.
