The Competition Bureau of Canada has obtained a court order to advance its investigation into Keyera Corp's proposed acquisition of the Canadian natural gas liquids business of Plains All American Pipeline LP. This acquisition is significant as both companies are key players in the midstream oil and gas sector in Canada.

The Bureau's investigation focuses on whether the proposed transaction could substantially lessen or prevent competition within the Canadian oil and gas industry. Additionally, the Bureau is evaluating if the acquisition could create barriers for competitors and new entrants, or if it would reinforce Keyera's competitive position in the energy infrastructure market.

The Federal Court order mandates Inter Pipeline Ltd, another participant in the Canadian oil and gas industry, to provide relevant records and information to assist the Bureau's investigation.
