25.05.2025 | Latvian competition authority
The Latvian competition authority, known as the Competition Council, has received a merger notification from SIA 'Do It' regarding its plan to acquire decisive influence over SIA 'VGP Park Riga'. This acquisition is significant as it involves two companies operating in vertically related markets.
SIA 'Do It' is a Latvian company engaged in procurement, sales strategy development, product selection, and supply for the 'JYSK' franchise stores across the Baltic states. Additionally, its affiliated companies are involved in the retail of textiles, furniture, and other household goods in Latvia.
On the other hand, SIA 'VGP Park Riga' is a Latvian company that specializes in the leasing and management of its real estate, specifically warehouses and logistics centers. Its affiliated companies also engage in the leasing and management of owned or rented properties, including office operations.
The merger participants are interconnected through their business activities, with SIA 'Do It' renting warehouse space from SIA 'VGP Park Riga' located at Ulbrokas iela 48 in Riga. In this facility, SIA 'Do It' provides storage, sorting, and packaging functions for product delivery to stores across the Baltic region.
The Competition Council is required to make a decision on the merger's approval, prohibition, or conditional approval within one month of receiving the notification. If a more in-depth investigation is necessary, the decision period may be extended up to three months from the notification date.
Market participants or other interested parties wishing to provide feedback on the potential impact of the merger on competition are invited to contact the Competition Council's economist, Sanda Blau, by June 6, 2025, or fill out the provided questionnaire.
