BDS SPORT CZ s.r.o., a sports clothing retailer, is set to acquire its competitor MARKETING INVESTMENT GROUP CZECH s.r.o. (MIG CZ). The Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) has granted approval for the transaction without any conditions, making the decision final.

BDS is part of the Sport Vision group, which operates in wholesale and retail sales of sports footwear, clothing, and equipment not only in the Czech Republic but also in Slovakia, Hungary, and several Balkan countries. Their product range includes brands like Nike, Adidas, and Reebok, among others.

In the Czech Republic, Sport Vision operates through BDS CZ, focusing on retail sales of sports footwear and clothing via physical stores and online platforms. They have a significant presence in various cities including Prague, Brno, and Ostrava.

MIG CZ, which is controlled by MIG PL and part of the British JD Sports Fashion Plc group, operates retail stores under the JD Sports and Sizeer brands. They also have a strong online presence.

The ÚOHS concluded that the merger would not significantly alter the retail market for sports footwear and clothing, as it would only slightly strengthen an existing medium-sized retailer, which will continue to face competition from other major retailers like Decathlon and Sportisimo.
