The Czech Office for the Protection of Competition has recently carried out an unannounced local inspection at a competitor suspected of participating in a vertical agreement concerning resale price maintenance.
This investigation is focused on the sporting goods and equipment sector, where the authority suspects that illegal agreements may have been formed.
During these local inspections, the authority verifies initial suspicions of potential violations of competition law, specifically the possibility of engaging in prohibited agreements or abusing a dominant position, while also gathering evidence to support such claims.
It is important to note that the execution of a local inspection does not imply that illegal conduct has occurred or that administrative proceedings will be initiated, nor does it guarantee that sanctions will be imposed.
