The EU Commission has designated Booking as a gatekeeper and has launched a market investigation under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Booking now has six months to comply with DMA obligations, ensuring more choice for end users and fair access for business users.

The DMA aims to promote fair and competitive digital markets by regulating gatekeepers, large platforms that control access between businesses and consumers, potentially creating bottlenecks in the digital economy.
