The Czech Office for the Protection of Competition has assessed two payment services operated by retail chains Kaufland and Lidl, both part of the Schwarz Group. These services function as digital wallets integrated with the respective loyalty programs of the retailers.

The authority reviewed the services in light of EU legislation, specifically Regulation (EU) 2015/751 concerning interchange fees for card payment transactions, and found no violations. Additionally, the authority did not identify any breaches of competition rules under the Czech Competition Act regarding Kaufland Pay and Lidl Pay.

The rapidly evolving field of payment services is an area of ongoing interest for the Czech competition authority, which will continue to monitor developments in this sector.
