The CNMC has concluded that Ouigo's increase in frequencies between Madrid and Albacete does not compromise the economic balance of the public service contract between Renfe Viajeros and the Ministry of Transport.

The CNMC has determined that Ouigo's increase in frequencies between Madrid and Albacete, from two to five per direction per day, does not affect the economic balance of the public service contract between Renfe Viajeros and the Ministry of Transport. The CNMC recommends revising the obligations of the public service to only subsidize frequent customer passes, as the market adequately covers the needs of occasional customers. The CNMC also suggests that multiple companies, not just Renfe Viajeros, should be allowed to offer public services on the Madrid-Albacete route.
