The Bundeskartellamt, Germany's competition authority, has granted clearance for the acquisition of D-Fend Solutions AD Ltd., based in Ra'anana, Israel, by Motorola Solutions Finance EMEA Limited, located in London, UK.

D-Fend Solutions specializes in non-destructive drone defense systems that can safely land drones by disrupting or taking over their control. These systems are primarily used to protect civilian infrastructure.

Motorola Solutions, Inc., a well-known provider of (handheld) radios in Germany, also manufactures electronic warfare systems that include components for drone detection. However, the company does not currently offer drone defense systems.

Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt, stated that while the merger may create certain technical and commercial synergies between D-Fend and Motorola, there are no competitive concerns. The drone defense market is already characterized by numerous strong competitors and continues to grow dynamically.
