The Polish competition authority has conducted an inspection of 50 products designed for car windshields, specifically focusing on winter washer fluids and de-icers. The inspection revealed that seven of these products contained methanol concentrations exceeding the legal limit.

Methanol is a toxic substance, and regulations stipulate that its permissible concentration in consumer products must be less than 0.6% by mass. The presence of high levels of methanol poses significant health risks to consumers.

Ensuring clear windshields is crucial for road safety, especially in winter conditions. The authority advises consumers to choose products suitable for the weather conditions and to pay attention to the freezing point of the fluids they use.
