CNMC Releases Provisional Settlements for Electricity and Gas Sectors in 2025

The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has announced the provisional settlements for the electricity and renewable energy sectors, as well as the gas sector for the year 2025. These reports reveal critical financial data and operational challenges within these industries.
In the electricity sector, the provisional settlement 7/2025 indicated a temporary deviation of -1,351.59 million euros, with total revenues reported at 7,024.3 million euros against costs of 8,375.9 million euros. This resulted in a coverage coefficient of 81.08%, reflecting discrepancies between income and costs as outlined in the relevant legislation.
For renewable energies, cogeneration, and waste management, the total amount settled from January to July 2025 was 2,710.78 million euros, with the majority funded by the electricity sector. Notably, 29.26 million euros were covered by the state budget for specific installations in non-peninsular territories.
In the gas sector, the provisional settlement 10/2025 covered the period from October 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025, reporting total liquidable revenues of 1,656.59 million euros, which is 10.5% lower than the previous year. The demand for gas during this period reached 241.7 TWh, marking an increase compared to the same timeframe in 2024.
