The Competition Appeals Board confirmed the Competition Council's decision that Sydbank breached the injunction by not providing access to an agent of a payment institution. This case revolves around whether the agent had the right to access Sydbank's payment card services. Payment institutions, such as businesses facilitating money transfers or enabling online stores to receive payments, require access to compete with banks. Sydbank was initially instructed in June 2021 to grant access but failed to do so, leading to a subsequent ruling against them in summer 2023. The Competition Appeals Board emphasized that recipients of injunctions cannot simply ignore them and later challenge them, as demonstrated in this case.
