The CNMC has launched a public consultation proposing an increase of approximately 20% on average for the recurring monthly fees that operators pay to Telefónica for utilizing physical infrastructure like conduits, manholes, and poles for fiber deployment.

For one-time fees, the proposal suggests an 11% increase. Access to conduits is crucial for telecom operators to deploy next-generation networks and is one of the obligations imposed on Telefónica in the regulation of broadband markets.

The consultation aims to update prices for both recurring and one-time fees, considering factors like the cost of capital, infrastructure lifespan, and amortization status, aligning with the European Commission's recommendation on promoting Gigabit connectivity.
