The Autorité de la concurrence has fined Google €250 million for breaching commitments related to related rights, specifically in relation to its artificial intelligence service "Bard."

The Autorité de la concurrence fined Alphabet Inc., Google LLC, Google Ireland Ltd, and Google France €250 million for failing to comply with commitments regarding related rights. This violation stemmed from Google's artificial intelligence service, "Bard," using content from press agencies and publishers without notification, hindering their ability to negotiate remuneration. The fines were imposed as part of efforts to ensure balanced negotiations between press agencies, publishers, and digital platforms, in line with the French law on related rights. Google, having agreed not to contest the facts, also proposed corrective measures to address the breaches identified.
