From July 29 to 31, 2026, a study visit took place at UOKiK, marking the launch of a joint TAIEX project titled 'Strengthening capacities of Montenegrin consumer protection and market surveillance authorities'. The project aims to enhance and harmonize Montenegro's consumer protection system with EU legal standards.

The collaboration focuses on increasing institutional and enforcement capacities of relevant authorities, developing collective consumer protection mechanisms, improving inter-institutional cooperation, and preparing for participation in EU consumer protection networks.

During the first two days of the visit in Warsaw, training sessions covered topics such as the consumer collective interests protection system in Poland, handling consumer complaints, enforcement actions related to greenwashing and influencer marketing, and the Consumer Protection Cooperation Network (CPC) to prepare Montenegro for future EU collaboration.

On the final day, the Montenegrin delegation visited the UOKiK Laboratory in Lublin, where experts demonstrated testing procedures for toys and children's products, showcasing practical solutions that could aid Montenegro's laboratory capabilities and integration into the European product safety system.

This study visit is the first step in the project, with an expert mission planned for autumn 2026 to further explore the discussed topics in Montenegro.

TAIEX is a European Commission tool that facilitates flexible expert cooperation (technical assistance and information exchange) between EU member institutions and their counterparts in partner countries, funded by the European Commission.
