The New Zealand Commerce Commission has granted clearance for ANZCO Foods Limited to acquire 100% of the shares in Greenlea Group Limited. This decision was made after a thorough investigation into the potential impact of the acquisition on competition within relevant markets.

Chair Dr. John Small stated that the Commission is confident the acquisition will not substantially lessen competition in any New Zealand market. The investigation revealed that the merged entity would still face adequate competitive pressure from existing competitors in the cattle processing and supply of processed beef products markets.

Dr. Small emphasized that the acquisition is not expected to alter market conditions in a way that would facilitate coordination among competitors. A public version of the written reasons for the decision is available on the case register, providing further insight into the Commission's assessment process for merger applications.
