The Greek Competition Commission, in its decision number 921/2026 dated October 19, 2026, has unanimously approved the merger of CREDIABANK and EUROPE HOLDINGS. This merger involves the absorption of EUROPE HOLDINGS by CREDIABANK, in accordance with Greek competition law.
The merger pertains to the broader markets of insurance services and insurance mediation, where both CREDIABANK and its subsidiary EUROPE INSURANCE operate. Horizontal overlaps between the companies are primarily identified in the insurance mediation market. Additionally, the transaction involves vertically related markets for providing insurance services through EUROPE INSURANCE and insurance mediation via CREDIABANK's branch network.
The Competition Commission considered the limited market shares of the involved companies in the relevant markets, which do not indicate horizontally or vertically affected markets, along with the presence of significant competitors in these markets. Consequently, despite the transaction falling under the scope of Article 6(1) of Greek law 3959/2011, it was determined that it would not substantially alter competitive conditions in the relevant markets.
As a result, the merger does not raise serious doubts regarding its compatibility with the requirements for maintaining competition in the relevant markets where the involved companies operate.
