The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has made a historic commitment in its proceedings against Microsoft, focusing on the company's compliance in informing Hungarian users about its AI-based services launched in February 2023.
As a result of the investigation, Microsoft initiated a comprehensive commitment that the GVH's Competition Council mandated. This commitment involves training Microsoft's AI systems on a dataset of 10 billion Hungarian words, which will also be made available for use by other AI systems.
The significance of this case and its potential impacts were discussed in the GVH Podcast by members including Nóra Váczi from the GVH Competition Council, Gábor Prószéky, director of the HUN-REN Linguistic Research Center, and Bálint Horváth, the GVH's communications director. The conversation highlighted various aspects of AI technologies and the importance of the GVH's decision.
