The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has released its 2025 Report on Ethanol Market Concentration, as mandated by the Clean Air Act and the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This report is part of an annual review aimed at assessing competition within the ethanol production industry.
According to the findings of the 2025 report, the level of market concentration and the number of participants in the U.S. ethanol production sector continue to suggest that the potential for market power to influence prices or coordinate on output levels is minimal on a nationwide scale.
The report was approved by a unanimous vote of 2-0 among the Commission members. Christopher Grengs, a lead staff attorney in the Office of Policy Planning, oversaw this matter for the FTC.
