The Czech competition authority, ÚOHS, has published its monthly newsletter, providing an overview of recent decisions and activities. This edition marks the celebration of 35 years of the authority's operations.
In September, several important decisions were made in the field of competition law, resulting in substantial fines. Notably, Plaček Pet Products s.r.o., a leading Czech distributor of premium pet food and supplies, was fined 36.438 million CZK for setting minimum retail prices for dog and cat food, which its buyers were required to follow from January 17, 2013, to March 3, 2022.
Additionally, the state-owned enterprise Lesy ČR was fined 17.268 million CZK for entering into an export ban agreement with one of its buyers, aimed at disrupting competition in the markets for logging residues and wood chips from July 2, 2021, to July 31, 2024. The newsletter also provides updates on the ongoing case involving a taxi cartel at Prague Airport.
Furthermore, the authority invites participation in upcoming professional events, including methodological days focused on public procurement and the Svatomartinská conference, which is currently open for registration.
