The Danish Competition Authority has concluded that Wolt has abused its dominant position in the meal delivery market through exclusionary and exploitative practices. The Chair of the Competition Council, Christian Schultz, highlighted that the majority of restaurants using Wolt are small businesses that have faced challenges due to Wolt's practices.

Wolt's exclusionary abuse involved a standard clause in its agreements that prevented restaurants from offering lower prices on their own sales channels, effectively stifling competition. This clause not only discouraged restaurants from undercutting Wolt but also made it difficult for new competitors to enter the market.

In terms of exploitative abuses, Wolt's agreements made it challenging for restaurants to attract customers directly, as they preferred to avoid paying commissions to Wolt. Additionally, Wolt could unilaterally offer discounts on meals without consulting the restaurants, while the restaurants were restricted from doing the same on their own platforms.

Furthermore, Wolt had the authority to compensate dissatisfied customers at the restaurant's expense, placing the financial risk solely on the restaurants without their input on complaints. The Danish Competition Authority has mandated Wolt to cease these illegal practices and has initiated legal proceedings for potential fines.

Wolt's market share in Denmark has reportedly increased significantly, raising concerns about its impact on small businesses and competition in the meal delivery sector.
