The Hungarian competition authority (GVH) is hosting a two-day professional training seminar in Budapest on September 29-30, 2025, in partnership with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This annual event aims to equip GVH staff with the latest knowledge and experiences to protect the interests of Hungarian citizens and ensure fair market competition.

Approximately 85 GVH professionals will participate in the training, which will cover various topics including the application of commitments, challenges related to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and insights from recent cartel cases adjudicated by the European Court of Justice. Participants will also learn from the experiences of notable cases such as Towercast and Illumina/Grail.

Opening the seminar, GVH President Csaba Balázs Rigó emphasized the importance of strong and effective competition law enforcement for the functioning of a fair market economy. He noted that the rapid technological advancements, digitalization, and dynamic changes in the global economy present new challenges that require continuous evolution in law enforcement practices.

The Regional Competition Training Center (ROK), established on February 16, 2005, aims to support competition authorities in Eastern and Southeastern Europe and Central Asia by organizing training and professional programs in competition law and policy. ROK will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025 and has organized over 160 events since its inception, with nearly 6,000 participants and more than 1,000 speakers sharing their expertise.
