Luke Woodward has been appointed as a Commissioner of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for a five-year term starting on October 10, 2025.

Luke Woodward has been appointed as a Commissioner at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), with his term beginning on October 10, 2025. ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb expressed her delight at Woodward's return, highlighting his extensive expertise in competition and consumer law.

With over 30 years of experience, Woodward has a strong background in competition and consumer matters, mergers and acquisitions, and infrastructure regulation across various sectors. He previously worked at the ACCC from 1993 to 2000, holding several key positions including executive general manager and general counsel.

Before his appointment, Woodward was a partner at King and Wood Mallesons, where he led the competition law practice. His strong litigation experience is expected to enhance the ACCC's enforcement program and support Australia's new merger regime.

Woodward holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and degrees in economics and law from the University of Sydney. He takes over the role from former ACCC Commissioner Liza Carver.
