The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has approved ten merger operations during June, with most being cleared in the first phase without any commitments.
Among the notable approvals, Decathlon España, S. A. U. acquired exclusive control over eighteen Intersport stores, enhancing its presence in the retail sports market, particularly in technical clothing and equipment. This acquisition raised concerns about potential anti-competitive effects, leading to a second phase review, but was ultimately approved with commitments to mitigate risks.
Danaher’s acquisition of Masimo was also approved in the first phase without any commitments, as it did not present any vertical overlaps or portfolio effects. Other approvals included Ariston's acquisition of Riello, Albia's joint control of Cid Gavilanes, and Everwood Capital's acquisition of Tudefrigo, all cleared without significant competition concerns.
Additionally, Diaverum España's acquisition of RTS, Papelera de Oiartzun's acquisition of Papresa, Grupo Fuertes' acquisition of Grupo Tolvasa Paasa, Dondear Viajes' acquisition of Atrápalo, and Gonvarri's acquisition of AEI and TGR were all authorized in the first phase without commitments, indicating a favorable environment for mergers in various sectors.
