The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland has alerted consumers to immediately cease using certain Ambiano Ionic Hairdryers sold by Aldi between August and September 2025. Approximately 5,400 units of these hairdryers are affected by the recall.
The CCPC has identified that the hairdryers pose a significant risk of electric shock or fire due to potential damage to the power cord over time. This damage could expose live wires or lead to overheating, creating a hazardous situation for users.
Adele O’Sullivan, Director of Market Surveillance at the CCPC, emphasized the importance of consumer safety, urging anyone in possession of these hairdryers to stop using them immediately and return them to the nearest Aldi store for a full refund. She stated, “We urge consumers not to take any risks with their safety. Even if the hairdryer appears to be in good condition, it is important that they stop using it and return it for a refund.”
The affected hairdryers were sold in various colors, including black, white, yellow, and orange, and can be identified by specific product codes. Consumers are encouraged to check their hairdryers against these codes to determine if they are affected.
For further details and updates on product recalls, consumers can visit the CCPC's official website dedicated to product recalls and notifications in Ireland.
