ACCC Seeks Feedback on Steeline Members' Collective Bargaining Proposal

02.06.2025 | Australian competition authority

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is considering authorizing Steeline Members to engage in collective bargaining and joint advertising for a decade, inviting public submissions until June 18, 2025.

On June 4, 2025, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) released a draft determination that proposes to authorize Steeline Members Pty Ltd and its current and future members to engage in joint selling and advertising activities. This authorization would also allow them to collectively negotiate with suppliers.

The ACCC's proposal is set for a duration of 10 years, reflecting a significant commitment to facilitating cooperative business practices among Steeline members. The commission believes that such collective actions could enhance competition and provide benefits to consumers.

The ACCC is currently inviting submissions from the public regarding this draft determination. Interested parties have until June 18, 2025, to provide their feedback before the ACCC makes its final decision. More information about the application process and submission guidelines can be found on the ACCC’s public register.
