The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has responded positively to the consultation by BIST regarding swifter and simpler competition redress, regulatory appeals, and competition enforcement.

The CMA's response indicates strong support for the proposed reforms, which are expected to enhance the effectiveness, proportionality, and predictability of competition enforcement. These reforms align with the CMA's ongoing efforts to improve four key areas: pace, predictability, proportionality, and process.

In its response, the CMA outlines its views on several key proposals, including granting the CMA powers to direct redress schemes, enhancing civil-damages protection for Type A immunity applicants, simplifying and harmonizing regulatory appeals across different sectors, and making the enforcement of the Competition Act 1998 more efficient.
