The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) has opened further proceedings regarding the proposed merger where Loi­hde Oyj intends to acquire the entire share capital of BLC Turva Oy.

Both companies operate in the physical security market, providing electronic security technology and structural security systems, along with installation, maintenance, and support services. Their offerings include burglar alarm systems, access control systems, video surveillance systems, locking systems, and door automation.

FCCA's initial investigation raised concerns that the acquisition could negatively impact competition in the electronic security technology and structural security markets, especially if competition is primarily regional.

The ongoing investigation will assess whether the acquisition could significantly impede effective competition in the Finnish market or a substantial part of it. The FCCA has the authority to approve the acquisition, approve it with conditions, or recommend that the Market Court prohibit the deal. The investigation process may take up to 69 working days, with the possibility of an extension by the Market Court for an additional 46 working days.
