The Spanish competition authority confirms that architects have the right to choose any college for project visas, although practical barriers exist.

The Spanish competition authority, CNMC, has reiterated that architects are allowed to visa their projects at any college across Spain. This is in line with the current regulations that mandate reasonable and non-discriminatory pricing for such services.

However, reports indicate that in practice, architects are often restricted to vising projects only at the college in their working territory. This territorial limitation can lead to instances where architects face excessive fees.

The CNMC has advised that if the principles of necessity and proportionality under the Law of Guarantee of Market Unity (LGUM) are violated, affected operators can seek protection through established mechanisms. Additionally, the authority recommends updating the list of professional tasks that require a visa.
