CMA Investigates Prima Subsidiary Limited for Breach of Private Motor Insurance Order
Prima Subsidiary Limited faces scrutiny from the CMA for breaching regulations on No Claims Bonus Protection in private motor insurance.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has sent a letter to Prima Subsidiary Limited regarding a breach of Part 2 of the Private Motor Insurance Order. This breach pertains to the requirement for private motor insurers and brokers to provide clear explanations of No Claims Bonus (NCB) Protection, including its benefits and costs, to customers at the time of making an NCB Protection offer.
Prima Subsidiary Limited breached the Order in several ways, including understating the cost of NCB Protection for some customers, failing to provide the required NCB Protection Statement and Information to certain customers, and providing non-compliant NCB Protection Statements. Additionally, customers who accepted an oral NCB Protection Offer were not given policy documents containing the necessary NCB Protection Information.
These breaches took place between October 2022 and 16 February 2024, impacting a total of 38,386 customers.
