The Austrian competition authority has announced that the Cartel Court has imposed a fine of EUR 1.7 million on Traunfellner for its involvement in anti-competitive practices in the construction sector. These practices included price fixing, market division, and the exchange of sensitive information with competitors from February 2003 to May 2017, primarily in Lower Austria.

Traunfellner's actions were part of a broader cartel infringement that affected the entire Austrian construction market, particularly in road building projects. The collusion aimed to reduce competition by helping companies win contracts and secure market shares. As a secondary party in this cartel, Traunfellner cooperated with the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (AFCA) outside the leniency program, which led to a reduced fine.

The cartel's illegal activities included coordinated bidding strategies, agreements on which companies would win contracts, and the submission of fake offers. The AFCA continues to investigate the matter, with some proceedings already concluded while others remain ongoing.

The Federal Cartel Act prohibits any actions that distort competition, including price fixing and market division. Fines can reach up to 10% of a company's total turnover from the previous year, depending on the severity and duration of the infringement.
