Telecom Companies Report Growth in Retail Revenue and Mobile Data Traffic
In 2025, Spanish telecom companies experienced a slight increase in retail revenues and significant growth in mobile data traffic, particularly with 5G technology.

The Spanish competition authority, CNMC, reported that in the fourth quarter of 2025, retail revenues for telecom services reached €5.938 billion, marking a 0.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The mobile data traffic surged by 18.2% year-on-year, with 5G traffic alone increasing by over 70% and accounting for 22.1% of the total data traffic.
Major players in the market, including Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE, dominated the retail revenue sector, collectively representing 82% of the total. Movistar's retail revenues grew by 3.1% year-on-year, while DIGI saw a notable increase of 16.2%. In contrast, Vodafone and two leading free-to-air television operators reported a decline in revenues compared to the previous year.
By the end of 2025, the number of installed access points to next-generation networks (NGA) reached 87 million, a 0.5% increase from the previous year. Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connections accounted for 79.4 million of these access points, with 91.1% of broadband lines being fiber connections. The number of active fixed broadband connections with speeds of 100 Mbps or higher reached 19.1 million, with 42.2% of these connections offering speeds of 1 Gbps or more.
In the mobile sector, there were 63.9 million lines, with 89.4% having internet connectivity. Movistar, MASORANGE, and Vodafone held 84.7% of these mobile lines, and when including DIGI, this figure rose to 96.3%. The total number of quadruple and quintuple play packages reached 12.4 million, indicating a continued trend towards bundled services.
