The President of the Polish competition authority (UOKiK) has initiated an investigation into Posnet Polska following reports suggesting that the company may have engaged in illegal price-fixing with its business partners. The investigation focuses on the pricing of fiscal devices, including cash registers, payment terminals, and barcode scanners.

UOKiK's analysis indicated that the prices of these fiscal devices across various online stores were consistently similar, raising suspicions of collusion. As part of the investigation, UOKiK officials conducted searches at the headquarters of Posnet Polska and three distributors: Esc in Krakow, Segal in Opole, and Dotkom in Tychy, with police assistance and court approval.

If the evidence collected during these searches confirms the suspicions, UOKiK may proceed with antitrust charges against specific entities involved. Participation in such collusion could result in fines of up to 10% of a company's turnover, while managers responsible for the collusion could face penalties of up to 2 million PLN.

UOKiK also offers a leniency program that allows companies involved in illegal agreements to reduce or avoid financial penalties by cooperating as whistleblowers and providing evidence of the collusion. Interested parties can contact UOKiK for more information on this program.

Additionally, UOKiK encourages anonymous whistleblowers to report anti-competitive practices through their dedicated platform, ensuring complete anonymity.
