The CNMC has concluded its investigation into Google regarding potential abuse of dominance in negotiations with Spanish press publishers and news agencies. The investigation was initiated following a complaint from the Spanish Reprographic Rights Centre (CEDRO).

Google was accused of imposing unfair conditions on publishers for including their news in services like Google Search, Google News, and Google Discover. The CNMC found that Google's commitments enhance transparency and align with Spanish laws, benefiting all publishers regardless of prior agreements.

The commitments, which last for five years and can be renewed, include obligations for Google to inform publishers about remuneration calculations, establish clear negotiation timelines, and ensure no retaliation against publishers for limiting content use. The CNMC emphasized that these measures improve market competition and protect the right to information.
