Approval Granted for Exclusive Control Acquisition by QUEST

08.01.2025 | Greek competition authority

The Hellenic Competition Commission has unanimously approved QUEST's acquisition of exclusive control over (NEW) BENROUMPI S.A., determining no anti-competitive effects.

On January 8, during a session, the Hellenic Competition Commission issued Decision No. 871/2025, approving the concentration involving the acquisition of exclusive control by QUEST S.A. over (NEW) BENROUMPI S.A. This decision was made in accordance with Article 8, paragraph 3 of Law 3959/2011.

QUEST S.A. is a publicly traded company on the Athens Stock Exchange and serves as a parent company for various businesses operating in multiple sectors of the Greek economy. Its primary activities include the trade of electrical and electronic products, IT services, and renewable energy sources. The target company, (NEW) BENROUMPI S.A., mainly engages in the import, wholesale, and retail sale of household appliances and devices.

The Commission concluded that the concentration does not affect any relevant markets, and therefore, it does not lead to anti-competitive horizontal, vertical, or conglomerate effects. Consequently, despite falling under the scope of paragraph 1 of Article 6 of Law 3959/2011, the concentration in question does not raise serious doubts regarding its compatibility with the competition requirements in the relevant markets.
