Record Mobile Portability in Spain Reaches 571,000 Changes in September
The Spanish competition authority reports a record in mobile number portability with nearly 571,000 changes in September 2025, marking the highest activity of the year.

The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has released telecommunications statistics for September 2025, highlighting a significant milestone in mobile number portability.
In September, the total number of mobile lines reached 62.81 million, with Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE holding 86.3% of the market share. When including DIGI, this figure rises to 97.5%.
A total of 570,939 mobile numbers were ported during the month, representing an 11.8% increase compared to September 2024, making it the month with the highest activity for mobile number changes this year.
While DIGI and Movistar saw positive growth, Vodafone, MASORANGE, and other mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) experienced negative balances.
In terms of mobile broadband, there were 56.23 million lines, a 5.7% increase from the previous year. The fixed broadband sector also saw growth, adding 103,482 new lines, bringing the total to 19.39 million, with fiber technology continuing to lead the market.
Overall, the fixed telephone lines reached 17.62 million, with 100,258 numbers ported, marking a 4.1% year-on-year increase.
